葡萄酒釀造在格魯吉亞有8000年以上歷史。格魯吉亞有著世界上最悠久的葡萄酒釀造歷史,被公認為世界葡萄酒的搖籃。1965 年,前蘇聯對格魯吉亞出土的 10 粒釀酒所剩下的葡萄籽考古研究,發現那些葡萄籽為距今 7000-8000 年前人工栽培的vitisvinifera sativa D.C品種葡萄,是人類歷史上最古老的葡萄品種。1999年,在倫敦舉辦的題為“VINOPOLIS”的全球首次大規模展示葡萄和葡萄酒歷史的國際展覽會上,格魯吉亞無可爭議地被認為是世界上最古老的葡萄酒工業國家,是世界葡萄酒的發源地。

得天獨厚的條件

高加索山區獨特的高原氣候、肥沃的土壤,使格魯吉亞擁有了適宜葡萄生長的一切得天獨厚的條件。格魯吉亞的葡萄品種達 529個,用來釀酒的27種,最著名的葡萄有淺色皮的Mtsvane、紅頭葡萄Saperavi和有清新酸度的Rkatsiteli白葡萄,產區主要集中在三個地區:一是氣候乾燥、東緣可到達高加索山麓的卡科提產區,該國三分之二的葡萄都生長於此;二是位於首都第比利斯附近的卡特利產區;三是位於西部氣候比較潮濕的伊麥瑞提產區。

高品質葡萄酒

格魯吉亞葡萄,因其特殊的地理環境和土壤條件,使其很難進行人為移植。世界最具盛名生產葡萄酒的法國,因其本土葡萄的營養成分和人體所需礦物質含量遠不能和格魯吉亞葡萄相媲美,曾設法移植格魯吉亞葡萄,但一直未能成功。連格魯吉亞本國也曾試圖把這種能生產世界上最高品質葡萄酒的葡萄進行擴大規模種植,但離開那片山脈和那片紅色的帶有山岩碎石的粘土,移栽的葡萄樹也無法成活。因此,幾百年來,格魯吉亞葡萄酒的產量一直不能擴大,使格魯吉亞葡萄酒就更顯珍貴,在獨聯體、歐洲和北美地區享有極高的聲譽。

歷史文化

史達林的故鄉 -- 格魯吉亞(Georgia),世界古人類發祥地之一,格魯吉亞的文明起源於青銅器時代,在希臘語中意為“田園”或“農業”。格魯吉亞人自稱“ქართველები”(Kartvelebi),稱其國土(格魯吉亞)為“საქართველო”(Sakartvelo,近“薩卡特韋洛”的普通話發音),稱其語言(格魯吉亞語)為“ქართული”(Kartuli,有譯作“卡特維爾”)。根據當地傳說,格魯吉亞人的祖先是“ქართლოს”(英文:Kartlos,《聖經》人物雅弗的孫子)。 長期以來,以葡萄和茶葉為主的農業為格魯吉亞主要經濟支柱產業。格魯吉亞的識字率為100%,居全世界國家識字率排名首位。

地理風光

格魯吉亞位於亞洲西南部高加索地區的黑海沿岸,北鄰俄羅斯,南部與土耳其、亞美尼亞、阿塞拜疆接壤。位於連接歐亞大陸的外高加索中西部,包括外高加索整個黑海沿岸、庫拉河中游及其支流阿拉河流域。

歷史榮譽

俄國大文豪契訶夫在自己的作品中,描述俄國貴族以飲用格魯吉亞葡萄酒來顯示他們的身份和地位。 格魯吉亞是世界上最著名的長壽地區之一。這個舉國家家釀造葡萄酒、人人飲用葡萄酒的國家,雖然戰亂頻發,但每千人中,90 歲以上的長壽老人就有1.8 人,國家人均壽命竟比一般國家要高5-10 歲。格魯吉亞人安蒂莎 克維查娃2010 年度過了自己130 歲的生日,成為“全球頭號壽星”。 格魯吉亞葡萄酒曾被作為前蘇聯的國宴用酒。1949 年12 月,毛澤東主席在開國大典後出訪蘇聯,史達林用自己酷愛的格魯吉亞家鄉葡萄酒款待毛澤東主席,並作為“國禮”贈送給毛澤東主席,受到了毛主席的極高讚譽。

Khvanchkara

Khvanchkara is a high-end, naturally semi-sweet red wine made from the Alexandria & Mudzhuretuli grape varieties cultivated in the Khvanchkara vineyards in Racha, Western Georgia. The wine has a strong, distinctive bouquet and a well-balanced tannin profile with flavors of raspberry. It has a dark-ruby color. Khvanchkara wine is one of the most popular Georgian semi-sweet wines. It contains 10.5-12.0% alcohol, 3-5% sugar and has 5.0-7.0% titrated acidity. The wine has been made since 1907.

Kindzmarauli

Kindzmarauli is a high quality naturally semi-sweet wine of dark-red color. It is made from the Saperavi grape variety cultivated on the slopes of the Caucasian mountains in the Kvareli district of Kakheti. It has a strong characteristic bouquet and aroma, a gentle harmonious and velvety taste. The wonderful taste and curative properties have won Kindzmarauli general recognition. The wine contains 10.5-12.0% alcohol, 3-5% sugar and has 5.0-7.0% titrated acidity.

Mukuzani

Mukuzani is a dry red wine made from 100% Saperavi in Mukuzani, Kakheti. The wine is sourced from the very best wines of the vintage that have been fermented at controlled temperatures and with selected yeast strains. The wines are then matured for 3 years in oak to give the wine-added complexity and flavor. Mukuzani is considered to be the best of the Georgian Dry Red wines made from Saperavi. It has won 9 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals in international competitions.

Saperavi

Saperavi is a red wine made from the Saperavi grape variety grown in some areas of Kakheti. It is an extractive wine with a characteristic bouquet, a harmonious taste and pleasant astringency. Its strength is 10.5-12.5% and titrated acidity 5-7%. At the international wine competitions this wine received one gold and one silver medal. It has been produced since 1886.

Ojaleshi

Ojaleshi (red) is cultivated on the mountain slopes overhanging the banks of the Tskhenis-Tskali river, particularly in the Orbeli village and Samegrelo district (Western Georgia).

Pirosmani

Pirosmani is a semi-sweet white wine made from a 40% Tsolikauri, 60% Tsitska blend. It has won 3 gold medals and one silver medal at international competitions.

Alazani

Alazani (white), named after Alazani river, is a mid-straw colored semi-sweet wine made from 100% Rkatsiteli. The climate of the Alazani Valley is slightly warmer than that of other wine-growing Georgian regions, making the local grapes sweeter than the rest. It has won one silver and one gold metal in international competitions.

Mtsvani

Mtsvani (or Mtsvane) (white) is also important in Georgian wines, and is often blended with Rkatsiteli to which it adds a fruity, aromatic balance. In the Georgian language Mtsvane means green.

Rkatsiteli

Rkatsiteli (white) is a variety that is so widely grown in Eastern and Central Europe that it ranks third in the world in hectares grown.[citation needed] It is the most important grape varietiy used to make Georgian white wines. It is high in acidity and is capable of producing wines with fine character.

Tvishi

Tvishi is a natural semi-sweet white wine made from Tsolikauri in the Lechkhumi region. It has won one gold medal, two silver medals and one bronze medal in international competitions.

Tsinandali

Tsinandali is a blend of Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane grapes from the micro regions of Telavi and Kvareli in the Kakheti region.
